Optimizing Patient Outcomes through Quality Use of Medicines

The role of a Clinical Pharmacist is to apply expert professional knowledge and ensure that patient outcomes are optimized. This involves providing the most appropriate medicine at the right time to the correct patient, supporting prescribers and patients to maximize clinical benefits of medicines and minimize risks of unwanted reactions.

This is an exciting opportunity for pharmacists looking to expand their clinical and operational skills within a hospital environment. The successful candidate will be able to work across multiple sites and manage priorities to meet deadlines.

As a Clinical Pharmacist, you will have access to a wide range of care services, including oncology, renal, mental health, women's health and maternity, chronic diseases, geriatrics and cardiology. You will also have the opportunity to participate in education, research and operational activities within the department.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Apply expert professional knowledge to ensure patient outcomes are optimized and achieve Quality Use of Medicines (QUM).
  • Ensure optimal doses of the most appropriate medicine are given at the right time to the correct patient.
  • Support prescribers and patients to maximize clinical benefits of medicines and minimize risks of unwanted reactions.
  • Maintain professional competence and participate in continuing education activities.
Requirements and Qualifications
  • Expertise in pharmacy practice and therapeutics.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to work across multiple sites.
  • Strong organisational and prioritisation skills.
