Job Description
This role is responsible for providing direct support to residents in our shelter program. As a Housing/Shelter Support Worker, you will work collaboratively with the team to identify clients' problems, needs, and risks. You will conduct individual counseling sessions using one-on-one techniques, provide basic life skills training, and advocate for residents' rights. Your duties will include assisting with resident support plan development, developing rapport with residents, performing wellness checks, distributing harm reduction supplies, and participating in cross-agency working groups.
Required Skills and Qualifications
To be successful in this role, you must have a diploma in a related human/social service field and a minimum of one year of recent related experience. You should possess strong problem-solving, decision-making, communication, and collaboration skills. You must also be able to work independently and show initiative and creativity. Additional requirements include proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, knowledge of non-violent crisis intervention techniques, and ability to navigate stairs and be on feet for up to 6 hours per shift.
Benefits
We offer a competitive salary range of $27.54 to $31.61 per hour, accrued vacation, and comprehensive benefits coverage after completion of the probationary period. Union membership is required for this position.
