Job Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced heavy truck driver to transport and deliver cargo or materials safely and efficiently.

This is an opportunity for a professional with a strong focus on safety, customer service, and reliability to join our team in this challenging role.

  • The successful applicant will be required to drive trucks with a capacity of more than 3 tons to transport and deliver cargo or materials.
  • They will work in remote locations and drive long distances, delivering goods via heavy haulage trucks, sometimes over intercity routes or spanning several states.
  • Transporting hazardous materials will also be a key part of the job.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct daily pre- and post-trip inspections of vehicles to maintain working operations and record any defects found.
  • Report serious mechanical problems to the appropriate personnel.
  • Load and unload cargo, recording amount and type of cargo being delivered.
  • Maintain radio or telephone contact with base or supervisor to receive instructions or be dispatched to a new location.
  • Complete paperwork documenting delivery information, miles driven, and expenses.
  • Take orders for new deliveries.
  • Maintain truck log according to state and federal regulations.
  • Report to a dispatcher any incidents encountered on the road.
  • Follow accident procedures if an accident occurs.
  • Fuel up, clean the truck, and wash windows.
  • Keep a record of materials and products transported.
  • Plan routes using maps or satellite tracking.
  • Take special precautions while driving.

Requirements:

  • Hold an AQF certificate II or III.
  • Possess a valid Australian MC/Heavy truck license.
  • Have at least one year of recent heavy/multi-combination driving experience.
  • Be able to work with, maintain, and carry out general repairs and maintenance on pumps, meters, and related equipment.
  • Demonstrate sound geographic knowledge of Perth and WA.
  • Be highly reliable with a first-class approach to safety and customer service, good communication skills.
  • Hold a Fatigue Management Certificate.
  • Pass a drug and alcohol pre-employment medical.
  • Hold an MSIC Card.
  • Hold a Load Restraint Certificate.
  • Have experience with dogs and chains.
