Job Summary:

The role of a Maintenance Officer is responsible for undertaking various maintenance duties, including repairs, painting, and general handyman tasks.

  • Gardening tasks involve planting, pruning, fertilizing, watering, mulching, and weeding of garden areas.
  • Regular sweeping, rubbish removal, blower vacuuming, and/or hosing are also part of the job.
  • Minor repairs of equipment and furniture, painting, moving items of furniture and classroom supplies are required.
  • Daily security routines include unlocking gates for entry and securing the site at the end of the day.
  • Maintaining a safe environment for all students, staff, and visitors is essential.
  • Assisting with the setup of events and functions is also involved.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Undertake regular inspections of premises to identify and report on any maintenance requirements.
  • Carry out routine maintenance tasks such as cleaning, painting, and repairing of equipment and furniture.
  • Conduct safety inspections and ensure that all work is carried out in a safe and sound manner.
  • Provide support to other members of the school community as required.
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities and provide reports as needed.

Requirements:

  • A trade qualification in a relevant trade is necessary.
  • Two years' experience in a similar role is preferred.
  • Familiarity with safe handling procedures for chemical usage, manual handling, storage of items, and general WHS is required.
  • A clear understanding of and personal commitment to the mission and values of the organization is essential.
  • Demonstrated competence in programmed, reactive, and preventative maintenance is necessary.
