Child Development Specialist

We are seeking a Child Development Specialist to join our team in the Southern region of Northern NSW Local Health District. This is an exciting opportunity to work collaboratively with key partners to deliver health and development screening to children in early childhood education and care services as part of First 2000 Days.
About the RoleIn this role, you will provide health and development screening, information, education, care navigation and referral pathways to support the health and development needs of children before they commence school. You will also work closely with parents/carers and early childhood educators to develop and communicate effective strategies for promoting healthy child development.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and implement health and development screening programs for children in early childhood education and care settings
- Provide education and training to parents/carers and early childhood educators on healthy child development and screening techniques
- Collaborate with key partners to develop and implement referral pathways and care navigation strategies for children requiring additional support
- Conduct regular evaluations and assessments of program effectiveness and make recommendations for improvement

To be successful in this role, you will need:
- A degree in social work or a related field
- Experience working with children and families in a healthcare or education setting
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- An ability to work independently and as part of a team
