About the Role

We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Pastoral Care Practitioner to join our team at Benetas. As a Pastoral Care Practitioner, you will play a vital role in providing spiritual care and support to our residents and their families.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage and respond to Allied Health referrals for Pastoral Care provision, assessing and responding pastorally to the needs of our residents.
  • Provide inclusive and respectful Pastoral Care services, including Memorial Services, spiritual reminiscence, and spiritual and emotional support.
  • Implement individualized, culturally sensitive care to all residents and clients, taking into account their unique needs and preferences.
  • Support Benetas in the community by fostering partnerships with local churches and community organizations.
  • Communicate and promote the Pastoral Care Service within the community and within Benetas, ensuring that our residents and their families are aware of the services available to them.
  • Work collaboratively with all stakeholders, including Community Engagement Coordinators and other healthcare professionals, to ensure that our residents receive comprehensive care.
  • Respond to requests from residents, clients, their families, and representatives, providing chaplaincy, sacramental ministerial, and church-based services and rituals as needed.
Requirements
  • CPE (Clinical Pastoral Education) - minimum 1 unit and eligibility for membership of Spiritual Care Australia (desirable).
  • Prior experience as a professional Pastoral Care Practitioner in an Allied Health role or equivalent (desirable).
  • Experience in effective documentation management, including spiritual assessments and progress notes, using systems and electronic records.
  • Organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage competing tasks.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to develop effective working relationships and build rapport with residents and their families.
  • Demonstrated resilience and compassion when dealing with complex spiritual care needs, such as grief and loss.
