Lead Hydrologist

Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled Lead Hydrologist to oversee the planning, design and delivery of hydrology and drainage solutions for major infrastructure projects across Australia.

The successful candidate will lead multidisciplinary teams, provide technical guidance and deliver high-quality outputs.

About the Role:

This is an exciting opportunity for a highly experienced hydrologist to join our team as a Lead Hydrologist. In this role, you will be responsible for leading the planning, design and delivery of hydrology and drainage solutions for major infrastructure projects across Australia.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan, design and deliver hydrology and drainage solutions for major infrastructure projects in accordance with Australian Standards and Austroads guidelines.
  • Oversee flood risk assessments, catchment analysis, and stormwater management strategies.
  • Manage the development of concept and detailed designs for road and rail infrastructure.
  • Provide technical leadership and mentoring to multidisciplinary engineering teams.
  • Review and approve hydrological and hydraulic designs.
  • Utilise industry-standard modelling tools to perform and validate complex drainage and water management designs.
  • Collaborate with internal teams, clients and key stakeholders to manage project deliverables, budgets and timelines.

Requirements:

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or equivalent.
  • A minimum of 15 years' experience in hydrology, drainage and water management for major infrastructure projects in Australia.
  • Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng) or equivalent.
  • Strong knowledge of Australian Standards, Austroads guidelines and relevant local authority requirements.
  • Demonstrated expertise in flood risk assessment, drainage design and water catchment analysis.
  • Proven experience in the delivery of concept and detailed design for major road and/or rail infrastructure.
