This technology has been developed through a long-standing research partnership with Deakin University and is set to bring a disruptive manufacturing solution to the textile industry together with other potential applications.

About the Role

This role involves formulating advanced inkjet colourants for textile printing, ensuring excellent jetting reliability and fabric compatibility. You will be responsible for designing and optimising pigment formulations, testing additives and controls for stability and quality, and performing analysis to guarantee shelf-life and consistency.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop formulate and test high-quality pigment dispersions, selecting optimal surfactants, binders and humectants to enhance ink stability, adhesion and print quality.
  • Pigment particle size control through advanced milling and dispersion techniques to achieve uniform colour distribution and optimal jetting performance.
  • Conduct rigorous stability tests including zeta potential, sedimentation and rheological analysis to ensure consistent product quality.
  • Test printhead performance by evaluating droplet formation, jetting reliability and nozzle health.
  • Evaluate fabric interactions to ensure vibrant colour, penetration, fastness and superior textile feel.
  • Collaborate with production teams to scale laboratory-developed formulations into reliable manufacturing processes.
  • Maintain accurate records and ensure compliance with all environmental, regulatory and textile safety standards.
  • Drive innovation and development of novel colour formulations contributing to patents and intellectual property strategies.
Requirements
  • A Master's or Doctoral degree in Chemistry, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering or related field with 10+ years' experience in pigment formulation and ink chemistry.
  • Proven expertise in colloidal chemistry, pigment dispersion and ink formulation.
  • Strong understanding of surface chemistry, rheology and particle size reduction.
  • Familiarity with inkjet printing technologies and textile printing processes.
  • Excellent analytical skills, ability to work independently and lead cross-functional teams.
