About the Role

BW Offshore Australia Management Pty Ltd is seeking an experienced Instrumentation and Control Systems Specialist to join our Asset, Engineering and Maintenance (AEM) team.

The successful candidate will contribute to the design, specification, and technical evaluation of control systems, field instruments, and safety systems, reporting to the Engineering Manager – Asset Operations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and Specification
    • Lead the design, specification, and technical evaluation of control systems, field instruments, and safety systems.
    • Monitor the production of detailed designs, drawings, specifications, data sheets, sizing, calculations, and technical reports for instrumentation and control systems.
  • Technical Support
    • Review and provide engineering solutions for Management of Change Requests from Facilities as per procedure.
    • Ensure adherence to industry standards in cyber security and functional safety, particularly in relation to PLC, DCS, SIS and Emergency Shutdown (ESD) systems.
    • Review the Shutdown / Breakdown Reports and verify / carry out Root Cause Analysis.
  • Instrumentation and Control Systems
    • Develop and manage the selection, sizing, and specification of instruments, as well as the preparation of relevant documentation such as datasheets, RFQs, Bills of Materials (BOM), etc.
    • Contribute to the engineering team's efforts to maintain technical assurance and documentation integrity across the assets' life cycle, from design through to handover and operation.
  • Project Support
    • Conduct and support risk assessments, reviews, and compliance with safety standards during project design and operations.
    • Participate in key project reviews (e.g., HAZID, HAZOP, constructability, and safety in design workshops) related to the Barossa project.
  • Technical Maintenance and Operations Support
    • Support Technical Maintenance and Operations Support teams, as needed, including visiting the Unit for technical support and troubleshooting.
    • Monitor continuously that the unit performs within the relevant performance standards.
    Requirements
    • You will hold a bachelor's or master's degree in electrical engineering, electronics engineering, or similar.
    • Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng) preferred but not essential.
    • 8 years+ experience in instrumentation and control systems design, technical and operations support.
    • Previous offshore/FPSO experience through conceptual design, commissioning, and operational support.
    • In-depth knowledge of applicable Australian and International standards and regulatory requirements.
