This role involves coordinating regular safety audits, inspections, and risk assessments to identify hazards and recommend corrective actions. You will also facilitate investigations into safety incidents, accidents, and near misses, ensuring thorough reporting, analysis, and implementation of corrective measures.
- Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the development, implementation, and maintenance of the HSMS to ensure compliance with the Coal Mine Safety and Health Act 1999 (QLD) and other relevant safety legislation.
- Coordinate regular safety audits, inspections, and risk assessments to identify hazards and recommend corrective actions.
- Facilitate investigations into safety incidents, accidents, and near misses, ensuring thorough reporting, analysis, and implementation of corrective measures.
- Coordinate injury management, return to work from injury, and worker's compensation cases.
- Develop and assure the implementation of emergency response and evacuation procedures specific to underground mining conditions.
- Assure appropriate safety measures are in place for handling hazardous materials and gases (e.g., methane, coal dust).
