About the Role
SLR Consulting is a leading international environmental consultancy, providing high-quality tailored services across the Asia Pacific, Europe, North America, and Africa regions.
The North Queensland offices are seeking a Senior Ecologist to join their team of technical specialists. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Ecologist to work in a busy environment and contribute to the success of SLR Consulting.
Key Responsibilities
- Providing high-quality service and advice to clients and colleagues, in both office-based and fieldwork activities.
- Participating in field survey programs to collect ecological data.
- Interpreting and applying environmental legislation to projects across various sectors.
- Developing technical reports detailing the outcomes of field survey programs and implications for environmental impact assessment and management.
- Project management skills, including invoicing, budget tracking, and preparing tenders and proposals.
- Assisting in mentoring junior staff and leading field trips.
- Integrating technical work into multidisciplinary assessments and project teams.
Requirements
- An appropriate tertiary qualification in Science, Environmental Science, Environmental Management, Natural Resources, or a related field.
- 5-6+ years' experience in an ecological role in the environmental consulting sector or an equivalent role in Government, including undertaking ecological surveys and report production.
- Experience in designing and implementing flora and fauna field surveys and monitoring programs.
- Excellent flora and fauna identification skills.
- Mature report writing and computer skills, with demonstrated ability to prepare high-quality written material for publication.
- Proven ability to work to deadlines and manage multiple tasks.
- Proven project management experience in relation to client management and budget control.
