At Hope Community Services, we are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Australian Aboriginal Youth Mentor to join our team at headspace Esperance.

About the Opportunity

This is a full-time position working Monday to Friday, with a salary of approximately $58,110 per year (based on 76 hours per fortnight at $37.35 per hour).

The successful candidate will have the opportunity to make a real difference in their community by providing support and guidance to young people from diverse backgrounds, with a particular focus on Australian Aboriginal youth.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Engage with young people through various activities, including events, groups, and individual mentoring support;
  • Develop and implement a culturally appropriate community awareness plan to promote mental health literacy among young people;
  • Work closely with the Clinical Team to ensure that health promotion messages and activities are consistent, evidence-based, and tailored to the needs of the community;
  • Participate in relevant community events and activities to raise awareness about mental health issues affecting young people;
About You

We are looking for someone with:

  • Experience working with young people who face mental health challenges, alcohol and other drug issues, and social problems;
  • Skills in coordinating and facilitating youth programs, events, or activities within a community setting;
  • Ability to develop positive relationships with stakeholders, including young people, families, and community leaders;
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills;
  • Knowledge of organisational policies and procedures, as well as cultural sensitivity and understanding of the experiences of young people from diverse backgrounds;
