Offender Rehabilitation Specialist

As an offender rehabilitation specialist, you play a vital role in enhancing community safety by delivering comprehensive welfare assistance and counselling programs to offenders.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct thorough assessments of offenders, analyze results, and maintain accurate records to inform case management decisions.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest offender rehabilitation research, legislation, policies, and procedures to ensure evidence-based practice.
  • Engage in regular professional supervision and team meetings to share knowledge and best practices.
  • Collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams, including psychologists, education officers, and custodial correctional officers to deliver holistic support services.
  • Develop and implement assessment, counselling, and welfare services tailored to individual offenders' needs.
  • Contribute to case planning and management by preparing reports and case notes as required.
  • Maintain accurate and secure records for relevant authorities, ensuring compliance with data protection regulations.
  • Provide expert advice on classification and planning reviews to inform sentencing and releasing authorities.
  • Ensure IOMS records are accurate and current, reflecting offender progress and service delivery.
  • Maintain personal and staff safety, security, and confidentiality of QCS property and information.
  • Provide timely information to sentencing and releasing authorities to facilitate effective offender management.
  • Liaise with external service providers to enhance offender integration into community settings.
  • Advise on community reintegration and parole processes to support successful offender rehabilitation.
  • Counsel offenders on offending behaviors and consequences to promote positive change.
  • Inform offenders about available services and community expectations to foster social responsibility.
Knowledge and Skills:
  • High-level knowledge of offender rehabilitation practices and services, including contemporary research and legislation.
  • Ability to maintain accurate and secure records, ensuring data integrity and compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Capacity to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team environment, promoting collaboration and shared learning.
  • Understanding of contemporary offender rehabilitation research and legislation, underpinning evidence-based practice.
