Macquarie Park, Australia Coles Full time

About Coles Group

We've been a trusted part of Aussie communities since 1914 and grown to become a top 30-listed company on the Australian Stock Exchange. Our diverse portfolio includes over 1,800 retail outlets nationwide, with a team that manages every location and works closely with business units on all aspects of property, from site acquisition to asset management.

Our Property team is at the forefront of our growth strategy, identifying and acquiring development sites for new Coles supermarkets across New South Wales and the NSW-Queensland border. As Australia's population continues to grow, we're actively seeking new store opportunities, making this role a key part of our high-impact team expanding our footprint.

If you have a strong track record in site acquisition and ideally a network across northern New South Wales, you could be the ideal candidate for this position. You'll source and secure financially viable strategic retail sites at the lowest cost and risk to the business, ensuring the delivery of new or improved Coles stores and helping to maximise income and valuations.

In this role, you'll develop and implement a long-term asset strategy for all balance sheet assets, manage divestment processes to enable capital recycling, and assess commercial risks, rewards, and development of clear delivery and exit strategies. You'll work closely with the Property team to deliver new stores, store extensions, re-developments, and existing property assets.

To succeed, you'll need a minimum of 5 years of experience in capital transactions, property acquisitions, or similar roles. You should bring a deep understanding of acquisition processes and excellent negotiation skills. Ideally, you'll have a valuation background, demonstrated understanding of development processes, and experience in retail, commercial, or industrial property.

You know how to build relationships and close deals that benefit all parties and are familiar with the ins and outs of town planning, development, and approval processes across jurisdictions. To excel in this role, you should have accounting, financial, or property tertiary qualifications, architecture/building/project management experience, a passion for retail property, and excellent organisational skills.

You'll also need strong financial knowledge to prepare and validate development feasibility models in Estate Master (or similar) computer packages. The estimated salary for this role is around $120,000-$150,000 per annum, depending on your experience and qualifications.
