We are seeking an experienced and skilled professional to drive transformative projects that enhance participation in sport and active recreation across NSW. The role requires strong leadership and collaboration skills, with the ability to work closely with communities, stakeholders, and internal teams.

About the role

The Senior Project Officer leads high-impact projects that strengthen inclusion and participation of Aboriginal communities in sport and active recreation. Working in partnership with communities and stakeholders, the role is responsible for designing and delivering culturally informed initiatives that align with our strategic priorities and commitments.

The role contributes to shaping inclusive policies, fostering cultural competence, and building strong relationships with stakeholders. With responsibility for managing complex projects and guiding a team, the position plays a key role in achieving meaningful outcomes.

Key responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement strategic initiatives aligned with our Reconciliation Action Plan and agency goals.
  • Foster strong relationships with community leaders and stakeholders.
  • Lead project teams to deliver high-quality results.

Requirements:

  • Prior experience in project management and team leadership.
  • Strong research and analytical skills.
  • Understanding of Aboriginal culture, governance, and community structures.

This is an identified position and the successful candidate will need to demonstrate a strong understanding of Aboriginal culture and community governance.

To be eligible to apply for this position, you must be an Australian or New Zealand citizen or permanent resident, or hold a valid Australian working Visa for the duration of the appointment. Any offer of employment will be subject to a satisfactory National Police Check and Pre-Employment Health Assessment.

You will also need to arrange a Working with Children Check at your own expense.
