Job Overview

The role of the topside lead is a critical one, involving the direction of engineering development for the entire integrated topside design.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead the effort to evolve the physical arrangement of Combat System equipment on Upper Decks, ensuring safety, operability, maintainability, and effectiveness.
  • Develop and maintain a derived set of Topside Performance Requirements that encapsulate all externally mounted CS equipment.
  • Collaborate with Systems and Transverse Team in Australia and UK to execute HCF topside analyses.
  • Work closely with Electromagnetic & Environmental Effects (E3) Modelling Team to ensure timely execution of analyses in support of internal Topside need dates and external HCF Program schedule milestones.
  • Review and endorse the veracity of E3 and non-E3 modelling results and approve documenting of Topside performance characteristics and associated attributes.
  • Ensure congruence between Platform (3D model), Combat System (Topside Items List), and General Arrangement (GA) under configuration control.
Requirements:
  • Tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline from a recognised institution or equivalent relevant experience (preferably within defence industry).
  • Advanced knowledge of appropriate engineering development methodologies and strategies.
  • Extensive engineering experience in RF Design, Radar & Weapons Architectures, Flight Deck Evolutions, or RAS logistics.
  • Working knowledge of Electromagnetic Radiation Hazards (HERO, HERF, HERP), RADHAZ-related principles, standards, and certification rules in maritime combatant context.
  • Familiarity with Integrated Topside Design process spanning multiple engineering disciplines highly regarded.
