About the Role
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Medical Laboratory Specialist to join our team at Healius. As a key member of our diagnostic team, you will be responsible for:
- Performing manual and automated diagnostic testing to ensure accurate and timely results.
- Executing routine procedures from specimen reception to result execution for pathological diagnosis, including specimen dissection.
- Assisting with stock control and maintaining accurate records.
- Complying with records maintenance and recording of results in line with protocols.
- Maintaining all equipment and operating equipment in line with protocols.
- Maintaining current scientific knowledge and participating in quality assurance activities.
- Contributing to continuous improvement and the development of new assays as required.
- Participating in training staff and liaising with internal and external stakeholders regarding test results or referrals.
- Complying with policies and procedures, workplace health and safety procedures, and quality assurance processes.
About You
To be considered for this position, you will need to meet the essential requirements:
- Bachelor of Science, Bachelor of Applied Science (Medical Laboratory Science) or equivalent.
- Demonstrated experience, knowledge, expertise, and skills within the respective discipline.
- Sound knowledge of QC, QAP, and troubleshooting.
- Demonstrated ability to identify, develop, and implement quality and service improvement activities in accordance with NATA/ISO accreditation/certification.
- Ability to perform duties with a high degree of independence and with infrequent supervision.
- Outstanding commitment to quality and excellence.
- Willingness to adhere to departmental and organisational policies and procedures.
- Positive attitude toward achieving outcomes and being a cohesive, contributing team member.
- Strong time management, interpersonal, communication, and organisational skills.
- Ability to cope and thrive in a busy environment.
- Self-initiative and problem-solving capabilities.
- Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
- This role may require additional vaccination history and evidence for department-specific vaccine preventative diseases.
