About Monash Health
Monash Health is Victoria's largest and most comprehensive health service. Our mission is to provide safe, high-quality healthcare and services for people at every life stage.
The Specialist Dementia Care Program
The Specialist Dementia Care Program (SDCP) is a federal initiative in partnership with state and territory governments. The program aims to reduce and stabilise symptoms in residents with Behavioural and Psychological symptoms of Dementia (BPSD) in approved residential aged care facilities.
Key Objectives
- Provide support for people living with BPSD who are unable to be supported in mainstream residential aged care.
- Provide person-centred, best practice care for people experiencing severe BPSD.
- Complement existing Australian Government funded dementia support services.
- Generate evidence on best practice to support people with BPSD in mainstream residential aged care.
About the Role
The SDCP clinician will provide specialist support and model best person-centred, evidence-based clinical care. Working within a multidisciplinary team, the clinician will assist in achieving a holistic, biopsychosocial assessment of the person, understanding the reasons they are experiencing BPSD, and working to establish non-pharmacological strategies to support and improve their symptoms and experience.
Requirements
- Ability to provide expert clinical consultancy.
- Knowledge and application of theories and techniques underlying behaviour management in BPSD.
How to Apply
Applications are accepted via the Monash Health online EHub system. For information, including how to apply and probity check requirements, please click here for the 'Application Guide'. Applications will be screened upon receipt, and selection activity may commence prior to the closing date.
