Job Description

Join a team of skilled professionals to deliver sustainable infrastructure projects. As a Principal Road Designer, you will lead the design and delivery of major road infrastructure projects.

The ideal candidate will have significant years of experience in project delivery environments with demonstrated participation in the delivery of major road infrastructure projects, particularly roads and highways design. Knowledge of Austroads Guide to Road Design is essential, knowledge and experience in applying other state-based standards is desirable.

  • Manage and complete the assigned delivery of the Road Design component of projects within agreed budgets and deadlines.
  • Identify, communicate, and optioneer with the team to resolve technical road design issues.
  • Lead a road design project team, including coaching and development of capabilities.
  • Assist in determining the resources required for a project plan, including elements suitable for outsourcing;
  • Ensure the production of accurate, clear, and concise project documents that are compliant with best practice and any other quality standards dictated by the nature of the project; and
  • Maintain ongoing communication with relevant project managers/team leaders and clients when required, to ensure effective communications on matters relevant to the project.
Qualifications & Experience
  • A degree or qualification relevant to Civil Engineering is preferred.
  • Proficiency in Bentley MicroStation and OpenRoads is essential.
  • Significant years of experience in a project delivery environment with demonstrated participation in the delivery of major road infrastructure projects, particularly roads and highways design.
  • Knowledge of Austroads Guide to Road Design is essential, knowledge and experience in applying other state-based standards is desirable.
