Job Description: We are seeking an experienced Registered Nurse to join our Perioperative Unit as a Preadmission Nurse. In this role, you will be responsible for coordinating care planning with the Nurse Unit Manager, completing pre-admission screening and assessment, educating patients/carers on pre-operative care and post-discharge requirements, and working collaboratively with the anaesthetist undertaking anaesthetic clinics.

Key Responsibilities:

• Coordinate care planning with the Nurse Unit Manager
• Complete pre-admission screening and assessment
• Educate patients/carers on pre-operative care and post-discharge requirements
• Work collaboratively with the anaesthetist undertaking anaesthetic clinics
• Daily screening to recommendation for admission forms
• Daily text messages to patients informing them of their upcoming procedures

Requirements:

• Registered nurse registered with Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Agency
• Demonstrated clinical knowledge and experience in delivery of evidence-based practice within pre-admission or surgical ward setting
• Interview/communication skills, nursing assessment skills, critical thinking/problem-solving skills, and teaching/counselling skills
• Demonstrated ability to work as part of a team
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, sound computer literacy, and experience with electronic medical records
