About Indigenous Genomics Fellowship

This is an exciting opportunity to join a research team at Australia's pre-eminent biomedical research institute and contribute to closing the gap in genomic healthcare.

The Indigenous Visiting Research Fellowship program will support one Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander researcher for up to two years, providing hands-on lab experience, training in genomic and multi-omic sequencing techniques, and exploration of Indigenous health research with a focus on diagnosis.

Key Objectives:
  • To build laboratory skills and knowledge in genomics.

  • To develop expertise in genomic and multi-omic sequencing techniques.

  • To explore Indigenous health research with a focus on diagnosis.

  • To contribute to closing the gap in genomic healthcare.

About the Position

This position is available for a postgraduate clinician, health professional, early-mid career researcher, or PhD student who has completed their confirmation of candidature.

Eligibility Criteria

  • The successful candidate must identify as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander.

  • They must have a background in biology, genetics, biotechnology, health and medical sciences or another relevant discipline and want to expand their knowledge in Indigenous genomics.

  • They must have exposure to a laboratory environment.

  • They must be available to undertake the fellowship at the research institute in Melbourne, Australia.
