Position Summary
In the role of Systems Safety Engineer, you will collaborate with other Engineering Authorities to engage with stakeholders, perform engineering evaluations, and assist in the endorsement of Engineering Change Proposals (ECPs). Utilizing advanced technical theories and methodologies, you will deliver innovative solutions while being mindful of budgetary and scheduling constraints.
This position also offers a chance to expand your knowledge and receive mentorship in System Safety Engineering methodologies and processes. With the support of the Engineering Manager, you will join our national Systems Engineering network, working within a friendly team to fulfill the requirements of our primary customer, the Royal Australian Navy (RAN). Your responsibilities will involve direct interaction with colleagues, Defence Force personnel, capability partners, subcontractors, and suppliers.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as the technical liaison among the customer, management, and implementation teams, conducting systems analysis to derive functional, performance, and interface requirements that align with system safety standards.
- Participate in System Design activities, including trade studies, to ensure compatibility of safety artifacts with the established product baseline across all subsystems, ensuring design meets performance criteria.
- Conduct technical risk assessments as necessary to support the development and review of hazard logs, safety case arguments, and risk mitigation strategies.
- Comprehend the systems safety engineering methodologies, tools, and procedures essential for completing assigned tasks.
- Collaborate with both internal and external stakeholders to uphold Raytheon Technologies' reputation as a reliable partner in delivering systems integration and mission support solutions.
Qualifications and Experience
- A tertiary qualification in a relevant engineering discipline, such as electrical, electronic, structural, or mechanical engineering, with the aim of achieving recognition as CPEng or Chartered Engineering Technologist with Engineers Australia.
- Experience in an engineering discipline, including involvement in various engineering practices such as Requirements Definition, Management, Analysis, Design, and Verification and Validation.
- Proven ability to effectively represent engineering professional services to both internal and external clients.
- Willingness to travel as required for the position.
Candidates must be eligible to obtain and maintain a NV1 Defence Security Clearance.
