Job Opportunity: Behaviour Specialist

We are seeking a Behaviour Specialist to join our team, responsible for assessing animal temperament, developing and implementing enrichment programs, and undertaking behaviour modification initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct thorough assessments of canine behaviour, documenting observations and creating reports for shelter management.
  • Develop and implement environmental enrichment plans to stimulate animal welfare.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to create intake and management plans, ensuring high-quality care and successful rehoming outcomes.
  • Implement training and behaviour management programs for individual animals, monitoring progress and making adjustments as needed.
  • Undertake administrative tasks, including document preparation and submission, in support of animal rehabilitation and welfare efforts.
  • Attend workshops and meetings to stay updated on best practices in canine behaviour and training.

Requirements:

  • Certificate II Companion Animal Studies or equivalent desirable.
  • Enrolled in Certificate IV in Behaviour and Training or related field, or willingness to pursue alongside the role.
  • Current Class C driver's license essential.
