About the Role

Darebin City Council is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Lead Prosecutor to join our City Safety & Compliance Department. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing and delivering Council's prosecution functions, ensuring efficient service delivery and compliance with statutory obligations.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with regulatory teams within Council, including Traffic, Planning Investigations, Building, Local Laws, Animal Management, Litter & Environmental Health.
  • Prepare briefs, charge and summons, and supporting documents.
  • Represent Council in magistrates court or VCAT as required.
  • Provide internal advice to statutory business units.
Requirements

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • Court knowledge: demonstrated understanding of VCAT and Magistrates Court procedures related to compliance and prosecution matters.
  • A tertiary qualification in law, legislative compliance, enforcement, or a related field, with several years' experience, or higher qualifications with specialized experience, or lesser formal qualifications with substantial experience in a relevant field.

The estimated salary for this role is $109,139 per annum, based on industry standards and location. This amount includes a range of benefits and incentives designed to support the well-being and success of our employees.
