The Construction and Maintenance Apprenticeship presents an exceptional opportunity to develop skills in civil construction tasks, responsibilities, and asset maintenance.
Apprentices will work across various teams, including construction, maintenance, and asphalt, undertaking general labouring duties such as concreting, repair and patching potholes, signage and street furniture maintenance, stormwater drainage, and general maintenance on Council assets.
Practical training and theoretical requirements supported by TAFE will be included in the apprenticeship. Upon successful completion, the apprentice will have achieved their Cert III in Civil Construction and gained four years of practical experience.
Council's Cadet, Apprentice and Trainee (CAT) Program aims to foster a skilled workforce capacity by creating job opportunities and a talent pipeline for specialised roles and developing future leaders through professional development experiences and related external tertiary study.
Workplace mentors provide ongoing training, guidance, and support while completing a nationally recognised qualification.
