Energy Deployment Contract Lead

We are seeking an experienced Renewable Energy Commercial Specialist to join our team at Tesla. This is a unique opportunity to work on high-profile projects, driving the transition to sustainable energy.
Job DescriptionThe successful candidate will be responsible for supporting Asia-Pacific project managers with managing risks and obligations in contracts during the deployment phase of utility BESS projects. With a strong understanding of contractual mechanisms, you will perform day-to-day administration of head contracts and subcontract obligations to ensure contractual compliance.
You will also be responsible for all commercial aspects, including EOTs, variations, payment, compliance, execution of contractually required deeds, payments, security, contract adjustments, and completion. Additionally, you will identify program risks, opportunities, and strategic assessment and reporting of risks and control measures.
Main Responsibilities:
- Supporting the deployment team in delivery of APAC portfolio of megapack projects with a focus on contractual matters
- Perform day-to-day administration of the head contract and subcontract obligations to ensure contractual compliance
- Perform all commercial aspects (with support): EOTs, variations, payment, compliance, execution of contractually required deeds, payments, security, contract adjustments, completion
- Identification of program risks, opportunities, and strategic assessment and reporting of risks and control measures
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders
- Assist with preparation and presentation of monthly and quarterly reporting
- Lead contract lessons learned and provide feedback to precontracts team
- Use leadership and negotiation skills to successfully identify and assist with resolving contractual issues
- Support the project manager with strategic and tactical guidance on complex contractual matters
- Maintain Risk & Opportunities register
To succeed in this role, you will need to bring the following skills and qualifications:
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in engineering, law, or business or equivalent experience in the sector
- 3+ years' experience in similar commercial/contracts roles preferably within the renewable energy sector (wind, solar, battery)
- Highly developed communication skills including negotiation
- Confident with writing commercial correspondence, extensions of time, variations
- Understanding of EPC Contracts, Project Management
- Self-starter, with a passion for driving the transition to sustainable energy
- Ability to solve complex problems with a focus on win-win strategies
- Ability to manage priorities across multiple projects
- Proven ability to work effectively both independently and in a team-based environment
- Ability to work mostly autonomously with minimal supervision
The salary range for this position is $120,000 - $180,000 per annum, depending on experience.
