Consumer and Fair Trading Division Leader

The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in shaping the strategic direction of the Consumer and Fair Trading Division. As an Assistant Director, you will oversee the management of investigations and projects, ensuring alignment with the Compliance and Enforcement Policy.

About the Role
  • You will be responsible for developing and implementing plans for the conduct of investigations and/or projects, including resource allocation and expenditure monitoring.
  • Preparation and review of internal and external documents, such as staff papers, notices, undertakings, correspondence, reports, minutes, briefs, reports, and media releases, is also expected.
  • Developing and maintaining effective working relationships and professional networks with stakeholders is crucial.
  • Providing advice on industry trends, consumer behavior, and broader environmental change, as well as contributing to ACCC positions on legislative and policy reform, is key.
About You
  • Comprehensive knowledge of the Competition and Consumer Act 2010 or demonstrated ability to acquire this knowledge is essential.
  • Demonstrated experience in managing investigations and/or projects, efficient resource allocation, and achievement of standards is required.
  • Ability to undertake objective analysis, draw accurate conclusions, and support evidence-based decision-making is necessary.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including communicating complex technical information, are expected.
  • Experience leading a team in a fast-paced organization, guiding, and developing staff is also required.
