Job Title: Centre Researcher - Heart Regeneration Specialist

Job Description:

The Centre for Heart Research is seeking an experienced Heart Regeneration Specialist to join their team. As a key member of the research group, you will contribute to the development and implementation of innovative strategies to enhance heart regeneration.

Your primary responsibility will be to assist with experiments investigating heart regeneration using various stem cell populations and regenerative medicine tools. You will work closely with the Co-Centre Director (A/Prof James Chong) and other researchers to advance the field of cardiac regeneration.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Performing procedures for stem cell isolation, propagation/culture, and cryopreservation.
  • Assisting/performing animal handling/surgery, including small and large animal models.
  • Assisting with performance of cellular and molecular biology analysis.
  • Maintaining meticulous records for all experiments and laboratory work.
  • Assisting with generation of publications, grants, ethics submissions, and progress reports.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

To be successful in this role, you should possess the following:

  • Relevant undergraduate degree (e.g., BSc).
  • Experience with cell culture, adult, and pluripotent stem cell experience advantageous.
  • Experience with various histological and molecular techniques.
  • Cell culture, flow-cytometry/cell sorting, animal surgery, molecular biology, histology/immunohistochemistry including confocal immunofluorescence skills/knowledge.
  • Intellectually curious, team-oriented, willing to learn, and strong writing skills.
