About the Role:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Software Engineering Team Lead to join our team at CAR Group. As a key member of our engineering team, you will be responsible for leading, influencing, and inspiring a team of engineers to deliver high-quality technology products.

  1. Team Leadership: Lead a team of talented engineers by promoting, supporting, and improving the ways of working of the team.
  2. Technical Vision: Drive and promote simplicity, quality, speed, scale, value, and innovation within the team.
  3. Delivery Approach: Manage and contribute to the team's sustainable delivery approach with quality and the customer in mind for the team's outcomes.
  4. Product Innovation: Drive innovation on products and services that will improve our customer experience as well as scale our systems as our customer base continues to grow.
  5. Strategy and Standards: Help formulate, interpret, and implement our strategy for technology while ensuring the application and enforcement of technology standards across your team and the wider organization.

Qualifications and Requirements:

We are looking for a candidate with:

  1. Expertise in People Leadership: Expertise in people leadership, motivating, coaching, mentoring, and developing software engineers.
  2. Technical Expertise: Experience architecting and building robust and scalable platforms in the cloud for high traffic sites, focusing on scalability, reliability, and performance.
  3. Software Engineering Practices: Knowledge of professional software engineering practices and best practices for the full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations.
  4. Modern Technology Practices: Fluency in modern technology practices, including management and leadership methods, with experience in coaching and mentoring these practices.
  5. Risk Management: Experience in risk management principles, understanding the impact of technical decisions on software risk.
  6. Software Delivery Lifecycle: A deep understanding of the software delivery lifecycle, importance of automation, and the impact of technical debt on teams and software outcomes.
