
Future Fire Communications Centre Operator

Job Summary:
The Fire Communications Centre is seeking a highly skilled and motivated individual to join our team as a Fire Communications Centre Operator.
This role is responsible for managing emergency calls, dispatching resources, and coordinating with other agencies. The ideal candidate will possess strong communication skills, be able to work in a fast-paced environment, and have a passion for providing excellent customer service.
Key Responsibilities:- Manage emergency calls and dispatch resources efficiently
- Coordinate with other agencies to ensure effective response to emergencies
- Provide excellent customer service to the public
- Maintain accurate records and reports
- Current Blue Card (from Blue Card Services)
- Australian Citizenship, New Zealand Citizenship, or Australian Resident Status
- Certificate III in Public Safety (Emergency Communications Centre Operations)
- Ability to successfully complete training programs of the Communications Training and Professional Development Program (CTPDP) at the prescribed level
- Typing speed of 45 wpm with 95% accuracy
- Apply First Aid and CPR Certificates
- Accept incoming fire and emergency incident calls and collect relevant information
- Assess risks and determine appropriate response and resources to dispatch
- Dispatch and coordinate resources and notify other organisations in accordance with the Communication Doctrine and Directives
- Maintain and update incident information in the centre's computer aided despatch system; monitor progress and liaise with operational staff until incident completion
- Complete post-incident administration including provision of information and reports to stations and other agencies
- Monitor alarm signals and respond per Communications Doctrine and Directives
- Provide mentoring and guidance on the job to new staff
- Contribute to improvement of operational and administrative systems and procedures
- Identify system and technical faults and liaise with Specialist Operational Services Unit
- Undertake general administrative and project duties as allocated
