Job Description

Border Express currently has an opportunity available for a Senior Network Engineer to join the Infrastructure Team at either our Albury (NSW) or Tullamarine (VIC) branch.

The Senior Network Engineer is a critical role responsible for ensuring our networks are secure, stable, resilient, and reliable. This includes ongoing collaboration with the FMH Corporate Systems team.

This team is responsible for the effective development and security of Border Express's IT systems and cloud services.

The successful applicant of this full-time position will join a team of talented professionals, where they will have the opportunity to further enhance their skills.

Key Duties:
  • Lead the team in the planning, design, and implementation of network infrastructure projects, including LAN, WAN, wireless, and cloud networking solutions.
  • Evaluate new technologies and recommend solutions to improve network performance, security, and reliability.
  • Develop and maintain network diagrams, documentation, and standards.
  • Conduct regular security audits and vulnerability assessments.
  • Monitor network performance and proactively identify and resolve network issues.
  • Troubleshoot complex network problems, including connectivity issues, performance bottlenecks, and security breaches.
  • Perform routine network maintenance tasks, such as software updates, patching, and configuration backups.
Required Skills and Qualifications

CCIE, CCNP, or equivalent networking certification(s). (e.g., Fortinet FCX, CompTIA Network+).

5+ years of experience as a Network Engineer, with a proven track record of success across on large scale networks, on a mix of on premise, mobile compute, and cloud infrastructure.

Extensive experience integrating networks in a virtualised environment, preferably VMware.

Provisioning and management of network infrastructure using code and automation

Deep understanding and a demonstrated track record on network layer security concerns and mitigations.

Expert knowledge of TCP/IP networking protocols, routing protocols (e.g., OSPF, BGP), and switching technologies.

Excellent communication, documentation, and customer service skills with a strong attention to detail.

A positive and enthusiastic attitude with a genuine interest in improving systems across the entire FMH Group.
