The role of the Health and Security Assistant is multifaceted, requiring a strong foundation in both healthcare and security principles.
This position plays a vital part in ensuring the delivery of safe patient-centered care to a diverse population by providing general assistance in wards, portering patients, cleaning duties and security tasks as directed by clinical staff.
To be successful in this role, applicants must hold current NSW Security licence (Class 1A minimum) and maintain it while also possessing a Nationally Recognised Training (NRT) First Aid Certificate. Alternatively, they may demonstrate their ability and willingness to obtain these certifications within the first three months of employment.
Essential Skills and Qualifications:- Embracing person-centered care principles in a healthcare setting.
- Experience working with diverse groups and practicing respectful communication.
- Physical capability to perform duties including lifting and transferring patients.
- Demonstrated conflict resolution and aggression management skills.
- Able to work independently or as part of a team and willing to adapt to a 24/7 roster.
- Familiarity with Work Health and Safety legislation and the Security Industry Act, along with the ability to read and follow instructions and policies.
- Current unrestricted driver's license and the ability to drive/travel as required, potentially involving long distances and overnight stays.
