We are seeking a highly motivated PhD student to join our research team at the Centre for Quantum and Technology Theory (CQTT) at Swinburne University of Technology.
Project OverviewThis project aims to advance our understanding of polaritons in the strongly interacting regime far from equilibrium, addressing the knowledge gap needed to achieve room-temperature superfluid light. The research will be conducted under the supervision of Prof. Xia-Ji Liu and will focus on determining the polariton-polariton interaction strength, clarifying the non-equilibrium phase diagram of polaritons at very strong light-matter coupling, and exploring emergent quasiparticles of polariton-polarons in the highly imbalanced condition.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct numerical simulations to study the behavior of polaritons in the strongly interacting regime
- Develop and implement new theoretical models to describe the behavior of polaritons
- Collaborate with the research team to design and conduct experiments to test the theoretical models
- Present research findings at international conferences and publish papers in top-tier journals
- Masters or Honours degree in a relevant field (e.g. condensed matter physics, quantum optics)
- Theoretical background in ultracold quantum gases and condensed matter physics
- Demonstrated experience in numerical simulations
- A valid working with children's check card (or ability to obtain prior to or upon commencement)
