Job Overview

The Senior Mental Health Clinician will provide mental health care to young people with complex needs in an enhanced primary care setting.

  • Deliver youth-focused mental health care, managing complex cases and coordinating intake, assessment, and referrals for at-risk young people.
  • Support Emergency Departments to identify and address barriers to service access for young people at risk of self-harm or suicide.
  • Build strong relationships with external stakeholders, promote headspace programs, and engage in community awareness initiatives.
  • Maintain accurate case notes, ensure compliance with policies, and contribute to a safe, inclusive workplace culture.

The role requires extensive experience in the planning and provision of mental health care, including completion of mental health assessments, crisis intervention, psychoeducation, and short-term treatment interventions.

Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Approved tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline (Psychology, Social Work, Occupational Therapy, Mental Health Nursing) and full registration with AHPRA or AASW.
  • Leadership skills, including supervision of staff, leading group interventions, and community engagement activities.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and build stakeholder partnerships.
