Key Responsibilities
  • Vehicle Maintenance and Repair: Perform routine maintenance and repairs on diesel fleet vehicles, including oil changes, tire rotations, and brake pad replacements.
  • Fleet Management: Manage a small stock of inventory and maintain a clean and organized workshop environment.
  • Compliance and Quality: Ensure all vehicles are compliant with statutory and legislative requirements, and maintain a high aesthetic appearance through regular washing, cleaning, and detailing.
  • Diagnostic and Problem-Solving: Diagnose and repair complex mechanical issues, and implement strategies to maximize fleet availability while controlling costs.
  • Preventative Maintenance: Identify and recommend preventative maintenance on equipment to minimize downtime and extend vehicle lifespan.
  • Workload Management: Coordinate workload and ensure servicing of vehicles is completed in accordance with OEM and company scheduled maintenance programs.
  • Travel and Field Service: Travel to assist in field service activities as required.
Requirements
  • Trade Qualification: Completion of an appropriate trade qualification, preferably a mechanical trade certificate.
  • Experience: Previous experience in servicing heavy vehicles or road transport, preferably in a fleet maintenance environment.
  • Autonomy and Safety Focus: Ability to work unsupervised and autonomously with a strong safety focus.
  • Communication Skills: Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to communicate effectively with colleagues and customers.
  • Customer Focus: Strong customer focus, with a commitment to providing an exceptional experience to customers.
  • Attention to Detail: Attention to detail and strong organizational skills, with a 'can-do' attitude.
