About the Role

We're seeking a highly skilled Senior Data Platform Engineer to join our team at Atlassian. As a key member of our Engineering team, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and delivering high-quality big data and software solutions that meet our business needs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and develop high-quality big data and software solutions to solve business needs
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, senior engineers, and architects to design and ship new features
  • Contribute to maintaining high code quality through peer code reviews and establishing coding standards
  • Establish and drive improvements to operational excellence, including security, reliability, availability, performance, and procedures
  • Use data-driven approaches to drive decisions and propose technical solutions to navigate ambiguity and change
Requirements
  • 5+ years of experience in Data/Software Engineering with relevant exposure to big data ecosystems
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience
  • Expertise in handling complex problems in distributed and big data environments
  • Experience building applications in one or more languages (Kotlin, Scala, Java, Python)
  • Strong knowledge of AWS services
  • Experience building services from the ground up, including gathering requirements, designing, building, deploying, and ownership
  • Familiarity with cloud architecture patterns and an engineering discipline to produce software with quality, performance, scalability, reliability, high availability, and operational excellence
