Are you a skilled technician looking for a challenging role in mechanical engineering? As a Mechanical Engineering Technician, you will play a key part in supporting engineers with various projects. Your responsibilities will include preparing technical drawings and plans, assisting with the design and modification of equipment and components, selecting tools and materials for use in workshops and on-site, assembling and installing new and modified mechanical assemblies, and more.

About the Role:

  • Preparation of technical drawings, plans, and designs for mechanical engineering projects under the direction of engineers.
  • Assistance with the design and modification of mechanical equipment, plant, and fabricated components for client projects.
  • Selecting and recommending appropriate tools, equipment, and materials for workshop and site use.
  • Assembly and installation of new and modified mechanical assemblies, components, machine tools, and hydraulic/pneumatic power systems.
  • Estimation of material costs, quantities, and machine requirements to support tendering and project scheduling.
  • Performance of field and workshop tests on fabricated components and mechanical systems to validate compliance.
  • Collection and analysis of technical data, computation of values, and preparation of engineering diagrams and reports.
  • Organization of inspection and preventive maintenance of machines and plant to ensure safety and operational efficiency.

Requirements and Qualifications:

  • Completion of a Diploma or Advanced Diploma in Mechanical Engineering Technology (or equivalent qualification).
  • Experience in an engineering workshop or metal fabrication environment, with exposure to plant, machinery, and hydraulic/pneumatic systems.
  • Proficiency in CAD software and other engineering tools is advantageous.
