Job Description

This role is responsible for developing and implementing sound underwriting standards and practices that align with our company's risk philosophy and profitability goals. You will be working closely with cross-functional teams to identify opportunities for improvement and implement changes that add value to customers and partners.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist with adviser enquiries, escalations, and complaints to satisfactory conclusion.
  • Achieve required underwriting volume target.
  • Complete telephone underwriting cases.
  • Communicate openly to engage customers, peers, members, funds, and partners using a variety of communication strategies (face-to-face, written, telephone, and presentations).
  • Collaborate with other teams and colleagues to achieve shared goals.
  • Contribute to a proactive, consistent customer experience across the underwriting team, identifying customer issues and opportunities to resolve them.
  • Think innovatively and challenge the status quo to help embed changes that add value to customers and partners.
  • Explore alternative solutions to improve effectiveness and productivity within the team.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Senior UW with minimum 3 years Life/Group Insurance industry experience.
  • Level 3 or above Underwriting authorities.
  • Strong Group Risk experience would be advantageous.
  • Tertiary qualification in Finance or related discipline.
  • A comprehensive understanding of the business and life insurance industry, including any new approaches or practices being introduced.
  • Good working knowledge of professional standards and codes.
