The Role

This is a specialized training role for drivers within Toll Group. The position provides training, assessment, and coaching in relevant aspects of their duties, including legislative requirements, Toll Group procedures, and continuous improvement considerations.

The Driver Trainer will implement business driver training strategies incorporating risk management, quality control, health, safety, and wellbeing standards. This position plays a key role in ongoing driver development to increase service quality, manage employee health and safety, and meet customer contractual requirements.

Key Responsibilities and Decisions
  • Conduct a range of training programs to support delivery of Toll Group driver training initiatives, including group and one-to-one training sessions as required
  • Assess driver competencies as part of pre-employment checks and re-assess current drivers to comply with business requirements and standards
  • Coach drivers to safely and effectively carry out work processes, supporting daily activities to ensure work is performed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with company procedures and legislation
  • Plan training requirements and activities in conjunction with Training Managers, coordinating forward planning and monthly operational needs
  • Support the design and develop quality driver training materials in line with learning methodologies, working closely with Toll Group Operations Training
  • Maintain effective document control and quality records systems, ensuring all mandatory training requirements are met within the business
Requirements and Qualifications
  • Certificate IV or Diploma in Workplace Training and Assessment
  • Heavy Vehicle Drivers Licence (preferably MC), DG licence, Security Sensitive Ammonium Nitrate SSAN, Maritime Security Identity Card MSIC
  • Knowledge of Heavy Vehicle mass management, fatigue management, dangerous goods, load restraint, road transport rules, and regulations
  • Experience as a skilled and competent driver/MHE operator and being an experienced and competent Trainer and Assessor
  • A proactive approach towards driver safety, coaching, and risk reduction
  • Intermediate Microsoft Office skills, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint, with strong written and verbal communication skills
Estimated Salary

$80,000 - $110,000 per annum based on location and experience
