About the Role
The Fitter Armourer- Weapons Assembly - Turret is responsible for the successful Integration of Turret systems in L400 Phase 2 Boxer vehicle and similar assemblies.
The technician will ensure to complete the Integration, Commissioning, and Test tasks in accordance with RDA manufacturing instructions, quality standards, and WH&S requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Completing the Inspection and pre-assembly checks of Weapons Assembly and associated components prior to Integration;
- Complete Pre and Post shipment technical inspections of Weapons Assembly and associated components; assist with generating warranty/technical reports for European stakeholders;
- Completing Weapon assembly and Acceptance Test Protocols IAW OEM requirements;
- Completing production documentation and test protocols related to the Weapons Integration, start-up, and commissioning process;
- Investigating and resolving any test failure issues that may occur during Weapon Proofing, Test, Commissioning, and FAT processes;
- Complete Weapon system technical reports and assist Quality department investigations and reporting as required;
- Maintain the safe and efficient storage of required parts, tools and equipment in the workshop areas. Support the materials team to complete the movement, delivery, and inspection of parts and consumables;
- Supporting the L400 service department with subject matter expertise in regards to Weapons and Turret maintenance and repair;
- Hold defence equivalent Range Safety officers qualifications for medium calibre;
- Complete work as required from time to time at other facilities including at the sites of RDA customers and suppliers;
- Conduct self and work in accordance with company and site specific WH&S requirements;
- Other duties and responsibilities that may be required as determined with your manager from time to time.
Requirements
- Minimum trade qualified fitter and turner (Cert III Engineering - Mechanical or equivalent);
- Experience and qualifications in the handling of explosive ordnance;
- Armourer experience and/or qualifications;
- The ability to provide technical leadership to a multi-trade team integrating functions including mechanical and electrical assembly, commissioning and testing;
- Availability to travel overseas for required systems training and support of build events in Germany for minimum 3 months consecutive period;
- The ability to gain security clearance commensurate to Australian Defence Force base access;
- Ability to read and interpret production drawings, manuals, and technical documents; and
- Eligibility to obtain an Australian Government Security Clearance (Australian Citizenship required).
