Emergency Medicine Specialist Position

The Nepean Blue Mountains Local Health District is seeking a skilled and experienced Emergency Medicine specialist to join our team. The successful candidate will work in the Department of Emergency Medicine at Lithgow Hospital, providing high-quality patient care and contributing to the delivery of safe, equitable, and timely healthcare services.

Job Description:

The position involves working as a Visiting Medical Officer, providing medical support to patients presenting to the emergency department. The successful candidate will have strong clinical knowledge and skills in Emergency Medicine, with experience in delivering and managing emergency care.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide high-quality patient care, including assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of emergency patients
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of emergency department policies and procedures
  • Work collaboratively with other healthcare professionals to achieve optimal patient outcomes
  • Participate in quality assurance activities and contribute to the improvement of emergency department services

Required Skills and Qualifications:

To be eligible for this position, applicants must possess:

  • Fellowship of the Australian College of Rural and Remote Medicine (FACRRM) or Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (FRACGP), or equivalent specialist recognition
  • Sound clinical knowledge in Emergency Medicine, demonstrated through successful clinical practice in an environment appropriate to the requirements of the position
  • High-level interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team
  • Demonstrated commitment to teaching and junior medical staff supervision, consistent with contemporary best practice supervision standards
