Postdoctoral Researcher in Hydrogen Storage
">This research position is an exciting opportunity to contribute to a collaborative project focused on the geological storage of hydrogen. The successful applicant will work with colleagues from various disciplines, including sedimentology, structural geology, and geomechanics, to advance our understanding of the subsurface flow and interactions of hydrogen upon injection and recovery.
The research program has identified two key themes: 1) assessing risk to hydrogen recovery posed by carbonate-clastic interbeds and inclusions within salt targets for solution-mined cavern storage of hydrogen, and 2) understanding the impact of geomechanical deformation on hydrogen gas-water-rock interactions in hard rock settings. This postdoctoral researcher will have the opportunity to refine and develop research priorities in collaboration with academic supervisors and industry sponsors.
Key Responsibilities:
">- Conduct research experiments in a laboratory setting, including designing and overseeing experimental research activities.
- Collaborate with colleagues to advance knowledge in geochemistry and diagenetic alteration within the subsurface.
- Develop and lead author technical and scientific writing, and liaise with professional and industry bodies and government.
- Work as an independent researcher and as a member of a multi-disciplinary research team, contributing to solving problems and developing scientific ideas.
