As an Artillery Soldier with the Australian Defence Force, you'll be part of a highly skilled team that operates at the forefront of combat and security operations.
You will learn to provide critical artillery fire support, systematic surveillance, and accurate target acquisition. You'll employ advanced weaponry, such as the M777 Howitzer, HIMARS, Huntsman SPH, and eNASAMS, to locate and coordinate the annihilation of threats.
No prior experience is required to become an Artillery Soldier. You'll receive world-class training, gaining a highly desirable skillset for a future career in the military and beyond.

The Artillery Soldier pathway offers four roles:
- Artillery Observer – Be the eyes and ears of the battlefield, using high-tech equipment to locate enemy targets and gather battlespace intelligence.
- Artillery Operator – Set up, aim, and fire one of the Army's most powerful weapons in a team-oriented environment.
- Artillery Command Systems Operator – Use advanced surveillance equipment to understand the battlefield, identify targets, and produce firing solutions.
- Air Defence Operator – Identify and analyze potential threats using sophisticated radar systems, then employ surface-to-air missile systems to destroy them.
Whichever role you take on, you'll build a unique skillset, working with various units across the ADF. Trust and respect your team; grow in confidence as you develop.
