About the Role

The Chief Information Officer is a key leadership position within CSIRO, responsible for providing strategic direction and vision for the organisation's information systems and technology infrastructure.

This role requires a technically proficient leader with a strong business mindset, who can drive sustainable transformation and ensure that technology investments align with organisational goals.

The successful candidate will have a deep understanding of information governance in the Commonwealth operating environment and experience working in a research organisation.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Develop and execute an IT vision and strategic plan that supports the organisation's goals and sustainability.
  2. Develop and implement business systems and processes that are efficient and effective, harnessing best-available technology.
  3. Foster a culture of innovation and continuous improvement within the IM&T department.
  4. Foster effective relationships that ensure alignment between stakeholder and organisational needs.
  5. Change management and shaping, leading and driving business transformation that has achieved measurable improvements.
  6. Manage financial resources, including budgeting, forecasting, resource management, funding streams or programs, cost-effective IT solutions.
Requirements

A bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, business administration, or a related discipline from an Australian tertiary institution, or a comparable overseas qualification.

Highly desirable: technical knowledge and understanding of information governance in the Commonwealth operating environment and/or experience working in a research organisation.
