Lismore, Australia MacKillop Family Services Pty Full time
About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate individual to join our team as an Intensive Therapeutic Care Specialist. In this role, you will have the opportunity to make a positive impact on the lives of young people who have experienced trauma.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist young people in developing living and life skills, promoting independence and self-sufficiency.
  • Provide guidance and support to help young people model and reinforce positive behavior through social learning and emotional intelligence.
  • Promote democracy and empower young people to participate in decision-making processes that affect their lives.
  • Offer support and assistance with daily tasks such as cleaning, shopping, and meal preparation.
The ITC System

The Intensive Therapeutic Care (ITC) system is a unique approach to providing therapeutic care to young people. It focuses on recovery from trauma and provides an alternative to long-term residential care. The ITC system prioritizes the safety and well-being of children and young people, while also offering clear pathways to less intensive service types and permanency.

Primary Objectives:
  • To provide trauma-informed services that achieve positive outcomes for young people and their families.
  • To create a safe and stable environment where young people can thrive, by implementing house guidelines and supporting individual strategies and case plans.
  • To collaborate with the team to ensure that young people receive services that meet their needs, through regular meetings and reviews.
Requirements:
  • A minimum qualification of Diploma in Youth Work, Community Services, or equivalent.
  • Experience working therapeutically with children and young people who have experienced significant challenges and trauma.
  • Knowledge and understanding of Aboriginal culture and values, and awareness of current issues faced by Aboriginal children and families.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team environment and build strong relationships with colleagues, young people, and their families.
