We are seeking a highly skilled Education Specialist to join our team at the Department of Education.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Teaching Excellence: Deliver high-quality teaching and learning experiences that promote improved achievement, engagement, and wellbeing for students.
  • Mentorship: Model excellence in teaching and learning through demonstration lessons and mentoring/coaching teachers.
  • Curriculum Development: Develop and implement whole-school improvement strategies related to curriculum planning and delivery.
  • Feedback and Support: Provide evidence-based feedback to teaching staff to inform their effectiveness and development.
  • School Improvement: Supervise and train student teachers and mentor/coach colleagues to support school-wide initiatives.
Selection Criteria:
  1. Expert Knowledge: Demonstrated expert knowledge of the relevant curriculum.
  2. Model Teaching: Demonstrated ability to model exemplary teaching practice, including literacy and numeracy skills across the curriculum.
  3. High-Impact Strategies: Demonstrated expertise in implementing high-impact teaching strategies that respond to student learning needs.
  4. Evaluation: Demonstrated ability to support teachers in evaluating the impact of learning and teaching programs on student growth.
  5. Interpersonal Skills: Demonstrated exemplary interpersonal and communication skills.
  6. Collaborative Relationships: Demonstrated ability to engage in collaborative relationships to support student learning, agency, wellbeing, and engagement.
  7. Department Values: Demonstrated ability to model behaviours and attitudes consistent with department values.
Requirements:
  • Qualifications: Provisional or full registration with the Victorian Institute of Teaching.
  • Experience: Qualified to teach and/or have demonstrated experience in the specified curriculum area(s).
