We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Mechanical Engineer to join our team. As a key member of our engineering team, you will play a crucial role in delivering design, engineering, and consulting excellence in the maritime sector.

Your primary responsibility will be to perform professional technical work involving independence, originality, and judgment. This will include serving as a technical specialist in your area of expertise, acting as a work-winning champion, and providing technical advice to management and supervising engineers, designers, and technicians.

You will also be responsible for sharing knowledge and mentoring within the organization, promoting quality, safety, and environmental standards, engaging with clients for service delivery and business development, and contributing to thought leadership through papers and presentations.

To succeed in this role, you will need to have experience with machinery such as stackers, reclaimers, excavators, and port machinery, as well as knowledge of relevant design codes. You will also need to have practical on-site maintenance and operational knowledge, a Bachelor's degree in engineering or a relevant field, and minimum 15 years' post-graduation experience. Relevant registration (CPEng, RPEQ, RPEV) or ability to obtain is also essential.

In addition to your technical skills and qualifications, you will need to have strong communication, organizational, and client relationship skills. You will also need to be proactive, results-oriented, and client-focused, with experience in multi-site organizations and the resources sector.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform Technical Work: Provide independent, original, and judgement-based technical work
  • Serve as a Technical Specialist: Offer technical expertise in your area of specialization
  • Work-Winning Champion: Develop bids and liaise with project managers to win new business
  • Technical Advice: Provide guidance to management and supervise engineers, designers, and technicians

  • Thought Leadership: Contribute to thought leadership through papers and presentations
Technical Skills and Qualifications
  • Machinery Experience: Experience with machinery such as stackers, reclaimers, excavators, and port machinery
  • Design Codes: Knowledge of relevant design codes (e.g., AS4324.1, AS1418, ISO 5049, FEMII)
  • Practical Knowledge: Practical on-site maintenance and operational knowledge
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in engineering or a relevant field
  • Experience: Minimum 15 years' post-graduation experience
  • Registration: Relevant registration (CPEng, RPEQ, RPEV) or ability to obtain
  • Sales and Business Development: Experience in sales and business development
  • Communication and Organizational Skills: Strong communication, organizational, and client relationship skills
  • Results-Oriented: Proactive, results-oriented, and client-focused
