We are seeking an experienced Defence Contract Manager to join our team. This is a permanent full-time position based at one of the main defence bases in the Northern Territory.

You will be responsible for the performance, payment and compliance of external contractors working on this Territory-wide defence contract. You will work closely with the Industry Engagement Manager and local base operatives to align subcontractor activities with overall project objectives.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Monitoring and evaluating the performance of subcontractors to ensure they meet contractual obligations and project standards.
  • Addressing and resolving any issues related to subcontractor payments, including discrepancies and delays.
  • Acting as the primary point of contact for subcontractor concerns and escalating issues as needed.
  • Conducting regular compliance checks to ensure subcontractors adhere to all legal, regulatory, and contractual requirements.
  • Facilitating communication and coordination between subcontractors and other project stakeholders to ensure cohesive and efficient work practices.
  • Maintaining accurate records of subcontractor activities, performance metrics, and compliance status, and preparing regular reports.
About you

We are looking for a candidate with experience in large-scale defence or industrial environments and strong leadership skills. You will have the ability to effectively guide and motivate subcontractors in pursuit of project objectives.

You will also possess:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Business Administration, Project Management, Engineering, or a related field.
  • At least 5 years of experience in subcontractor management, supply chain management, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in managing subcontractor agreements, including performance monitoring and compliance checks.
  • Proficiency in project management software and tools, as well as Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively convey information to diverse audiences.
  • A valid driving licence.
