Obstetrics and Gynaecology Specialist: A Dream Career in Rural Australia

A unique opportunity awaits for a highly skilled Obstetrics and Gynaecology Specialist to join our team in the beautiful North West Queensland region. This is a chance to make a real difference in the lives of patients and experience a rewarding career in a vibrant rural community.

The role involves providing evidence-based clinical care to patients requiring obstetric or gynaecological services, including patient review, clinical examination, identification of clinical problems, and health opportunities, and plan of overall clinical care and health promotion.

To be successful in this position, you will need to possess a relevant tertiary degree qualification and appropriate registration/licences, such as a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) or equivalent eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia.

You will also require Senior Staff Specialist or Staff Specialist (Obstetrics & Gynaecology): Fellow of Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (FRANZCOG), or Senior Medical Officer (SMO) / Rural Generalist (RG) – Obstetrics: Fellow of the Australian College of Rural and Remote Medicine (FACRRM) or Rural Australian College of General Practitioners (FRACGP + FARGP) with Advanced Diploma of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (Advanced DRANZCOG).

In addition to these qualifications, you will need a C Class Motor Vehicle Licence and be prepared to undergo pre-employment screening, including Criminal History checks, which may include evidence of vaccination or immunity to Hepatitis A/B, Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Pertussis, and Tuberculosis.

This is a VPD risk role and may require additional requirements.

We offer a competitive remuneration package based on full-time equivalent value, attractive relocation incentives, and a range of benefits, including 5 weeks annual recreational leave accumulation with 17.5% loading when taken, Attraction and retention incentive allowance of 40-50% base annual salary, Regional and Rural attraction allowance of 15% base annual salary, Professional development allowance and leave of 3.6 weeks p.a., and accommodation provided as per NWHHS Procedure for Staff Accommodation.
