We're seeking a talented Space Systems Automation Engineer to join our innovative team and contribute to our mission. Located in Bowen, North QLD, you'll be part of our dynamic team based at our first orbital launch site, surrounded by some of the world's best beaches and sunsets.

About the Role

This exciting opportunity involves designing and building industrial control systems, applying multidisciplinary skills in Mechanical, Electrical, Controls, and Software Engineering. You'll work with SCADA systems in Ignition Automation for real-time control and visualization of rocket systems, as well as PLC control systems via IDEC devices that use ladder programming logic.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Designing test systems based on requirements set by the company team, ensuring they're highly configurable, flexible, and maintainable.
  • Integrating enterprise solutions that monitor data acquisition, instrumentation, and automated test equipment.
  • Implementing mission-critical solutions that coordinate diverse, multivendor, multiplatform tools and technologies.
  • Assembling and configuring automation system hardware.
  • Designing, writing, testing, deploying, and debugging software modules and hardware integration.
  • Maintaining critical path progress of plans and informing leadership teams and stakeholders of any variations.
Requirements

To succeed in this role, you'll need:

  • A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Engineering.
  • NV1 Security Clearance eligibility preferred.
Desirable Qualifications and Skills

  • 3+ years of experience in a similar role (i.e., designing and building industrial control systems).
  • Working knowledge of Ignition software.
  • Exposure to C/C++, electronics, FPGA's, and embedded programming.
  • Solid understanding of networking protocols such as TCP/IP and UDP.
  • Demonstrated familiarity with real-time control.
  • Experience developing highly configurable and flexible test systems.
  • Strong understanding of pressure, temperature, and flow measurement instrumentation.
  • Excellent technical writing and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
Salary and Benefits

The estimated salary range for this position is between $120,000 - $180,000 AUD per annum, depending on your level of experience and qualifications. We offer a comprehensive benefits package, including a competitive salary, superannuation, and access to professional development opportunities.
